I got bored and drew this... but later decided to make it a character.
"The Icky Man" is the street name of a demon who sells hard drugs in exchange for some the person's life essence. I considered writing a short story about a corrupt undercover cop who tracks the Icky Man's operations.
Very nice concept. I actually much prefer this one over The Icky Man 2. You should probably try harder not tomake such obvious outlines though, especially on the left hand. The face was done partuicularly well, and I also like the way you hinted at the shape of ribs under the left hand.
I agree about the thick outlining. Pictures like this would probably look better with nothing but varied shading. You see those little stringy things hanging off him? Those are directly inspired by Gammell's work.
Yes, I assumed the stringy things and his hair were probably inspired by Gammell, along with other characteristics. One thing he rarely did though was to make outlines like that, and he also tended to use a lot of contrast. Both of these are things that I think would make this work more to my liking. Of course, all of this is very subjective. Criticisms of my own work are more than welcome, for I can always use suggestions for improvement.
Yeah, the sharp thick outlines were added because I was too lazy to do some clever shading effect. I'll have to study his work in detail.
About your work... I was looking at your dog drawing, seeing if there was anything to criticize about it, but it was virtually perfect. I'm actually kind of inspired by it.
Why thank you very much. Its funny, even though it is probably the furthest from realism among all of my posted drawings, it is the best for capturing the ingenious style mastered soley by Gammell.
